Colorful Monet-Inspired Wedding at a Private Estate in Mettawa

Chanel and Mike's wedding was initially planned at a resort in Napa, California, but due to COVID restrictions in 2020, they reached out to The Creative Planners to create a stunning backyard wedding at the bride's family estate in Mettawa…in just six weeks! Despite the rush, not a single detail was overlooked. Chanel and her mother share a love for color, making Monet's Garden the perfect source of inspiration. With Waterlilies and Giverny in mind, we set out to bring their vision to life through the incorporation of vibrant florals and decor.

The ceremony's focal point was a stunning tree at the front of the property that we encircled with florals. Additional florals were used to line the aisle and were later repurposed around the stage area at the reception. The clear top tent was infused with playful florals and printed linens that brought a touch of California to Chicago. As a nod to the family’s personal style, white paper lanterns were used for lighting and furniture from the pool house was moved to create lounge vignettes for guests. Among our favorite painterly details? The place card sign backdrop: a custom-painted floral canvas that now serves as artwork in the couple’s home. A live painter was also hired to capture the couple's first dance on canvas, offering yet another one-of-a-kind memento of a spectacular day!
