A Wedding of Titanosaur Proportions at the Field Museum in Chicago
Kendra and Chuey had one firm requirement: a Saturday evening in 2022, the busiest year on record for weddings in the country. Most venues were already booked, and they had their sights set on a city that was fully in demand. The search took real effort.
Stanley Field Hall at the Field Museum is one of Chicago’s most recognized landmarks, though it wasn’t where Kendra and Chuey initially pictured celebrating. Once we walked through it together, it made complete sense. The Hall’s scale gave the evening something a tent never could, and Maximo, the titanosaur who commands the space, provided a focal point no florist or lighting designer could replicate. We repositioned the typical floor plan to use him as the stage backdrop and built the evening around that anchor.
Kendra’s wintery blue palette worked well in the space. Rich linens and velvet napkins brought warmth and texture to each place setting, and guests were greeted with a “Palaciosaurus” cocktail, a nod to the couple’s last name that set the tone for what followed. Blue Plate Catering handled dinner, Vanille provided the cake, and Entourage kept the dance floor full.
The night’s final touch came from St. Louis: toasted ravioli, flown in for the occasion and served on the dance floor. Kendra’s hometown made it to the party after all.
